Future and current soldiers should be aware of the services provided by the following government and/or private organizations:
http://www.israelscouts.org/ – Garin Tzabar Program
Please find the link on the upper left reading: tzofim garin tzabar. We, veteran olim and soldiers of the IDF highly recommended the Garin Tzabar as the most logical, comfortable, and best way for immigrants coming to serve in the army. You live for first year of your army service on a kibbutz and receive services – laundry, food, ect… that make life much easier for a soldier in training. On a kibbutz with other young immigrant soldiers your age…
Office of Immigrant Absorption- locations and information on government financial support to lone soldiers, provides lone soldiers with Sal Klitah financial support in first year following Aliyah, and 352 Shekels/month
Ministry of Building and Housing (known as Amidar or Matan Chen) provides support only to Olim. It gives Olim lone soldiers 400 shekels/month. – Machal participants do not recieve this support.
*** Shavuz.co.il*** – Amazing site (in Hebrew) for soldiers and recently released soldiers
Machal- shorter service for youngest ages (18-21), but less rights, and access to a limited number of units. If you decide to make Aliyah (to receive citizenship) then you are required to fulfill the amount of army service according to the age at which you entered the country. As an Oleh you are able to work in Israel after your service (non-citizens must apply for work permits), have access to better units, and receive more support from the state. Lastly, Mahal participants are not assigned to reserve duty as they chose not to receive Israeli citizenship.
telalivit.com – Excellent website for those interested in moving to Tel Aviv, info. on apartments, aliyah, life in the city, social networking, ect…
Military Service – Information from the state for Lone Soldiers on military service
Joining the IDF – A Step by Step Guide – overview by the Jewish Agency
Nefesh B’Nefesh – Supporting Aliyah from North America and England, they have replaced the function of the Jewish Agency in these countries. They offer financial support to Olim- if you come withGarin Tzabar – you will automatically recieve their support/services.
