The Beit Shemesh
Home for Lone Soldiers
Donate to a home for lone soldiers serving in the IDF.
There are hundreds of lone soldiers who return to empty apartments after long, hard weeks in the army. Exhausted and alone, these soldiers have to shop, cook, clean and do laundry before they can sit down, relax and rest.
The Lone Soldiers’ Home – Beit Shemesh offers an alternative housing option, where they have a clean place to live, stocked with food and hot meals and people who care about them. The home is their “home away for home” – which offers physical, emotional and familial support.
The Lone Soldiers’ Home is a villa for approximately 10 soldiers and a counselor or young married couple complete from “A to Z” with furniture, appliances, air conditioning, linens, kitchenware and patio furniture and food and anything else that the soldiers might need or want.
Each soldier is paired with an adoptive family to help surround him with a warm and caring environment.
Since we are a community of olim, with our own children serving in the army, we know what needs to be done to take care of lone soldiers so far from home. The Lone Soldier Center’s Beit Shemesh Home has been open since November 2015.
