About our Project
About our Project
About our Project
There are hundreds of lone soldiers who return to empty apartments after long, hard weeks spent on base or in the field. Exhausted and alone, these soldiers must shop, cook, clean and do laundry before they can sit down, relax and rest. They must rush to do all their errands before the stores close before Shabbat. And they need to take care of themselves should they become injured or sick during their service.

Our Home
The Lone Soldiers’ Home - Beit Shemesh is a “home away from home” for twelve immigrant lone soldiers, who we take care of in many ways. It is an alternative urban housing option, where our soldiers have a clean place to live, a home stocked with food and hot meals, and are surrounded by people who care about them.

Our home is complete with furniture, appliances, air conditioning, computer, TV, Wi-Fi, linens, kitchenware, patio furniture, barbecue grill, ping pong table and plenty of space to relax outdoors. It is also close to bus stops, shops and parks. A young couple live on the premises, and together with our committee of volunteers attend to all the soldiers’ needs.

Beit Shemesh Community
Since we are a community of olim, with our own children serving in the army, we know what needs to be done to take care of lone soldiers so far from home. From attending army ceremonies to accompanying them to doctors’ appointments; from arranging Shabbat meals to driving to the train station, the community of Beit Shemesh cannot do enough for our boys!
