Shlukerim for Lone Soldiers

in memory of Honey Rackman

What are “shlukerim”?

Shlukerim are hydration backpacks that hold 3 liters of water, fit into soldiers’ vests and link to a flexible hose straw convenient for drinking. Shlukerim are essential for preventing dehydration – not only in the summer but all year long.

We are hoping to provide a shluker to every lone soldier who needs one. Each one costs $35.

Sluker: Hydration Pack for Soldiers

Shlukerim
This vital piece of equipment helps keep soldiers hydrated, alert, maintain their hands free and therefore helps them stay safe.

This campaign was initiated by Ms. Rebecca Rackman of West Orange, New Jersey, during Operation Defensive Edge. Ms. Rackman was in contact with the families of several lone soldiers who shared with her the dire need of shlukerim, especially in the brutal heat of the southern Israel summer. Ms. Rackman decided to set up this fundraising project in memory of her mother, Honey Rackman, a’h, who was a staunch supporter of Israel throughout her life and would be very proud to know that her family and friends are helping lone soldiers defend the people, the land and the State of Israel.
